Hi there,
I have a bit more content for you for this story if you’d like to use it…
Peace Mix is a campaign by the Big Lottery Fund (BIG) and Birmingham’s New Day Foundation (NDF), which aims to give young people across the UK a voice and the opportunity to help promote peace through music.
As part of the campaign, a Mic Relay tour is visiting music studios across the UK to promote up-and-coming talent from each area, and showcase local publicly funded music facilities.
The event at Birmingham’s Heath Mills Studio will see local acts including emerging singer songwriter Helena Durkin and gifted MC and producer YOUNGOD recording a peace themed song and performing in front of a panel of industry judges for a place at the semi-final event at the Eden Project and a place at the final at London’s prestigious Roundhouse in August.
Young Birmingham musician and contestant YOUNGOD said: “I think all talented young musicians should be taking advantage of the guidance and facilities that their local public studios have to offer so I’m really pleased to be taking part in the Peace Mix Mic relay in Birmingham. Peace Mix is really different because we get to perform and record and learn about the music industry and who knows: I might get to perform at The Roundhouse!”
In addition to the Mic Relay events, the campaign is celebrating young talent through a groundbreaking, crowd-sourced collaboration track that young people across the UK are being invited to contribute their lyrics, beats and music to via the Peace Mix website:
