Mention of Simon Dingle of Carillion in the Post this week recalls the experience of a group which recently booked a guided tour of the new Library of Birmingham.
They had been required to give their shoe sizes and measurements for protective headgear so that they could be kitted out for the visit.
To their great disappointment they were told, on arrival, that there would not be time to take them round, though a brief tour of the outside was made.
Concern was expressed about the amphitheatre on two counts: no provision for shelter in case of rain during performances and the total impossibility of making it secure.
We hope future visitors’ tours will go according to plan.
